Anti-Virus

Anti-Virus

Anti-virus is a system that scans and destroys a virus that infiltrates the computer that is being used. While many antiviruses exist, their main purpose is to protect the computer from viruses and remove them if found. Some anti-viruses include an automatic and a manual scan feature. The automatic scans downloaded files from the internet and can scan disk and USB’s that are put into the computer. As well the automatic feature can be used to scan your hard drive on an annual basis of maybe a day.

The manual feature allows you to scan individual files or your entire system if deem necessary.

Since hackers will constantly update their viruses so do the anti-virus producers, releasing updates as soon as a new virus type is found. An anti-virus must be up to date, so the software automatically updates the system to tell the main system about this new virus.

Some Anti-virus software’s block or prevent other things like malware such as spyware adware and rootkits. But usually are bundled with a firewall, this is all for internet security.
