If you buy an item off ebay and it’s a scam page paypal will refund you the money straight away. If your account is hacked they can only take what amount you have in and no more, although paypal is very secure so it would be hard for a hacker to get into your account. Online payments is part of internet security. A lot of the time social engineering is used to get peoples money online.
Using a credit card to buy online items is as easy as putting in a couple of numbers on a card and you are done, but using a credit card online can be very dangerous as hackers can get your information and take all of your money.
